What We Do

DELA Community Development Initiative (DCDI) runs community-based activities that support children and young people through music, education, creative expression, life skills, and community engagement.

Our programs give children and youth the chance to discover their abilities, build confidence, develop discipline, learn practical skills, and take part constructively in their communities. We work with community members and local stakeholders to shape activities around the real needs, interests, and strengths of children and young people in Kitgum Municipality and surrounding communities.

1. DELA Kids Choir

Sing • Learn • Grow

DELA Kids Choir is DCDI's flagship program. It brings children together through singing, music, dance, and cultural expression, giving them a positive space to develop their talents while building teamwork, discipline, confidence, and positive values.

Our Focus

·         Music and singing — helping children discover and develop their musical ability

·         Dance and cultural arts — creative expression and appreciation of cultural heritage

·         Confidence and teamwork — participating, cooperating, and expressing themselves positively

·         Discipline and responsibility — building commitment, respect, and responsible behavior

·         Life lessons and positive values — age-appropriate guidance that promotes kindness, respect, peace, and good character

2. Education & Life Skills

Support Learning and Personal Development

DCDI treats education and life skills as core parts of children's development, encouraging young people to value learning, build positive habits, and develop skills that support their personal and social growth.

We work alongside families, community members, and local stakeholders to support children's learning and wellbeing through mentorship sessions, life-skills discussions, and creative learning activities.

3. Community Engagement

Working Together for Positive Change

DCDI believes children benefit most when families, community members, and local leaders work together to build supportive environments. We use music, dance, creative expression, and dialogue to encourage cooperation, positive values, and shared responsibility for children's wellbeing.
